Why Does God Allow Pain and Suffering?

Why Does God Allow Pain and Suffering?

this is week four and our sermon series on the book of Job and if you weren’t here last week you really need to go back and you need to watch last week’s sermon because it’s the crux of the series in other words it’s the most important sermon in the entire series in fact I explained why the book of grep the book of Job is considered to be a book of grace more specifically a book about Jesus Christ that’s right the book of Job is about Jesus Christ so if you weren’t here you really need to go back and watch last week’s sermon because it’ll give you a whole new perspective on the book now this morning I’m going to present a theodicy how many of you remember one of the Odyssey is the theodicy is a theological argument that explains or seeks to explain how the existence of evil can be reconciled with the justness and goodness of God you see evil is one of the main arguments that atheist use to try and deny the existence of God and they form their argument in this way they say if an all-powerful all-loving God were to exist such a God would immediately take action to remove all evil and suffering from human experience or never let it happen in the first place and since evil and suffering do exist then God must not or at least the God of the Bible must not so if there is a God he must be an immoral God or an impotent God for allowing evil to exist and that’s the argument that most atheists make if evil exists then the God of the Bible does not so as you might have guessed theologians tried to explain why God would allow evil to exist and that’s what a theodicy is it’s an explanation of why a loving omnipotent and omniscient God allows evil to exist now as I told you in the very first sermon of this series the book of Job is not a theodicy in fact it doesn’t even touch on the subject of why God would allow evil to exist instead it assumes that we all know that evil does exist and Satan is the person behind it not God and evil will continue to exist until the great white throne judgment which will put an end to sin once and for all so the book of Job is not a theodicy it’s not an explanation of why God would allow evil to exist no other parts of the Bible explain why God allows evil to exist but not joke so this morning I’m going to present a theodicy a layman’s theodicy in other words I’m going to be explain why you’re loving an omnipotent God allows evil to exist in this world and by the time I’m through hopefully you’ll have a greater appreciation of God and the world will make a lot more sense so let’s start by talking about one of the most important attributes of God which is his justness so turn with me if you would to the book of Deuteronomy chapter 32 verse number 4 this is a Bible verse that should be highlighted in your Bible it’s the key stone in the Bible so here’s what it says he is the rock his deeds are perfect everything God does is just unfair he is a faithful God who does no wrong how just and upright is he do you see that everything God does is just because God is just so in essence it’s who God is and what God is and what he does which means that guy can never be unjust is everyone with me good now because God is just he must do two things number one he must punish sin and number two he must reward righteousness in fact if he didn’t do those two things he wouldn’t be just he would be unjust and God can never be unjust remember everything God does is just because God is just so again because God is just he must do two things he must punish sin and he must reward righteousness now the punishment for sin is death you’ll find that in Genesis chapter 2 verse number 17 God told Adam and Eve if you eat of that tree and that day you will surely die you also find in Romans chapter 6 verse number 23 for the wages of sin is death so the punishment for sin is death and the reward for righteousness is life you’ll find that in Leviticus chapter 18 verse number 5 Paul quotes it in Romans chapter 10 verses 4 and 5 and he expounds on it now when Adam and Eve sinned God had two choices he could step in and mediate ly bring judgment upon Adam and Eve and put an end to sin once and for all or he could postpone judgment which would allow God time to establish a means of salvation and give man adequate time to repent and accept God’s means of salvation and of course God chose the second option had he chose the first option Adam and Eve would have been damned forever with no means to obtain salvation so God in His mercy and his compassion postponed judgment upon Adam and Eve but in his decision to do so he allowed sin to continue and the consequences of sin to corrupt the world and that’s what Genesis chapter 3 tells us now let me emphasize the fact that if god had stepped in and brought judgment Adam and Eve would have physically died that day the day they eat into the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and their souls would have been damned forever with no hope of salvation because the punishment for sin is death and there was no means yet established by which they could be made righteous and the only way that God could give them and their descendants which is us a chance for salvation was to postpone judgment does everyone understand that he had one of two choices one of two options to immediately step in and judge them had he done that they would have died physically and they would have been damned forever and there wouldn’t have been any descendants or he could postpone judgment but in doing so he would allow sin to continue and the consequences of sin would corrupt the world now as I said the consequences of postponing judgment is that sin is allowed to continue until the time God steps in permanently to bring judgment which means that pain suffering and evil will also exist you see as long as sin is allowed to continue pay suffering and evil will exist that is so important let me say it again as long as sin is allowed to continue pain suffering and evil will exist and let me explain why turn with me if you would to the book of Genesis chapter 3 verses 14 through 19 in fact the book of Genesis is all about beginnings that’s what it means so we’re gonna go back to the beginning and find out why God postponed his judgment but also what that led to so here it is misses verses 14 through 19 and the Lord God said unto the serpent because thou has done this now cursed above all cattle and above every beast of the field upon the bill by Billy shipped out go and dust shalt thou eat all the days of my life and I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed it shall bruise thy head and that shalt bruise his heel under the woman he said I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children and thy desire shall be to thy husband and he shall rule over thee and under Adam he said because thou has hearkened and the voice of thy wife and has eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee saying thou shalt not eat of it cursed is the ground for thy sake in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of your life thorns also and thistles to bring it forth to thee and thou shalt eat the herb of the field and the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till that return to the ground for out of it was thou taken for dust thou art and unto dust shalt thou return now this whole passage of Scripture is referred to as the curse but the truth is there are several curses involved in this passage of Scripture you have the curse on the animal kingdom the curse on the serpent the curse on the woman the curse on Adam and his descendants and also the curse on the earth itself now I want you to notice that God pronounced each curse in the same chronological order in which each act of sin was committed first on the serpent then on Eve and last but not least on Adam now verse 14 tells us that the snake was cursed above all of the other animals underline that word above that word is translated from the Hebrew word men and in this context it uses a comparative and it means more than so what this tells us is that all of the animal kingdom was cursed as a result of Adam and Eve sinned but the serpent was cursed more yeah he was cursed more than all of the other animals so let me say that again because that’s important all of the animal kingdom was cursed as a result of the fall but the snake was cursed more than all of the other animals now verse 15 is a prophecy of the coming Messiah look at verse number 15 again and I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed and that shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel now according to this verse Sunday a man would be supernaturally conceived and born of a virgin and the reason we know that is because it refers to the seat of the woman and people women don’t have seat the word seat here actually means semen it’s men that produce semen not women so basically what this is saying is a virgin will conceive and bear a child a supernatural man and because he would be born of a virgin this supernatural man wouldn’t pur take of the inheritant nature sinful nature of adam and there would be an intense hatred between the supernatural man and the serpent Satan why because the serpent knows that the supernatural man will come in order to destroy him therefore the serpent will try to destroy him first but he will only succeed in bruising his heel the Messiah on the other hand will crush the Serpent’s head in other words he will destroy him in the power that he has what’s the last enemy to be defeated death so he will completely and totally destroy him so this verse is the very first record of the gospel that’s why scholars refer to it as the protet vangelia in other words the first gospel does that make sense good now the curse that fell on Adam related to his role as the man and his responsibility as a man last part of verse number 17 cursed is the ground for thy sake in sorrow shalt they eat of it all the days of thy life you see Adams role as a husband was to be the breadwinner and family provider and now because of his sin his job was going to be that much more difficult now let’s look at the curse itself look back in the last part of verse 17 and underlined the word ground cursed is the ground for thy sake the word ground is translated from the Hebrew word Adama Adama which means earth in fact the word Adam Adam comes from animal he came from the earth he came from the ground but I want you to understand that the Hebrew word Adama means earth now that’s very important because it tells us that the whole earth is cursed not just the ground in fact let me say that again because this is very important because of Adam the whole earth is cursed not just the ground the second thing that I want to point out is that Adam wasn’t cursed because of the earth the earth was cursed because of Adam and that’s that’s a very important distinction to make look back in the last part of verse 17 and I’ll show you what I’m talking about notice what it says cursed is the ground for thy sake in other words because of you in fact let me show you how the NIV translates this first cursed is the ground because of you Adam so the earth was cursed because of Adam and not the other way around now let’s get into the specifics of the curse which takes us to verse number 18 because verse number 18 is an explanation of the curse in other words it explains what the curse is and it gives us insight as to why we experience pain and suffering it gives us insight into why people get sick it explains why people get cancer it explains why there’s genetic deformities so let’s go into this because if you want to know why we experience pain and suffering then you have to understand the curse and verse number 18 tells us what it is notice what it says thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to the and now she eat the herb of the field now I want you to underline that word thistles this was translated from the Hebrew word dar dark now what’s interesting is that there’s a lot of debate as to how this work should be translated and a lot of confusion as to what this word really means so most scholars when they’re translating this verse choose to ignore this word and they stick with the traditional translation and normally they’ll put a little footnote at the bottom of the page explaining what the root word means and that’s it in fact if you have a Study Bible if you turn to verse number 18 in Genesis chapter 3 you’ll probably find a little footnote there and you look at the bottom of the page and it will tell you what the root word means but to understand what verse 18 is saying you have to translate this word right you have to go back to the root meaning of this word you see the root of this word means to release or to set free it implies that the earth and everything in it is now free to change over time from the complex structure that they were originally created with in other words plants animals and all forms of life will mutate yeah that’s what verse number 18 is saying so plants animals and all forms of life are now free to change over time they’re free to evolve not into new species but to change within its species in other words they’ve been released from remaining true to the DNA template they were originally created with as everyone with me now it’s very important to note that God did not produce the thorns or caused the plants and the animals to mutate it happened naturally as the result of Adam and Eve’s sin look back at verse number 18 and I’ll prove it to you notice what it says thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee now the pronoun it refers to the earth in fact notice how the NIV translates this it will produce thorns and thistles it the earth will produce thorns and thistles in other words the earth will produce thorns and mutations now why did the introduction of sin allow mutations to occur on this earth well according to Hebrews chapter one verse number three all things are held together by the power of God’s Word so as long as God walked on this earth and fellowship with man the earth maintained a steady state of life in order but when Adam sinned fellowship with God was broken and God no longer walked on this earth and fellowship with man so the power by which God maintained this steady state of life in order was withdrawn allowing all things to gradually disintegrate towards death and disorder so mutations in the second law of thermodynamics are a result of sin yeah the second law of thermodynamics states that all things left in themselves go from order to disorder in layman’s terms over time all things begin to fall apart we refer to it as entropy so this is how sin brought a curse upon the earth and all of creation was subjected to the curse not just living creatures turn with me if you would to the book of Romans chapter 8 verses 20 and 21 and I’ll prove it to you notice what it says against its will in other words they didn’t play any role in this there’s only three that did the serpent allowed Satan to use it in Adam and Eve so against its will all of creation not some of creation all of creation was subjected to God’s curse but with eager hope the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children and glorious freedom from what from death and decay do you see that all of creation was subjected to God’s curse which is death and decay now look at Hebrews chapter 1 verses 10 through 12 all of the sudden the Bible begins to make sense notice what it says he also says in the beginning oh Lord you laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens are the work of your hands they will perish in other words die but you will remain a lord because your eternal they will all wear out in other words decay like a garment you will roll them up like a robe like a garment they will be changed but you remain the same in your years will never end in other words thanks to Adam and Eve everything wears out over time this is known as I said is the law of entropy the second law of thermodynamics so as you can see Genesis chapter 3 verse number 18 explains what’s wrong with this world Adam sinned and he brought God’s curse upon the world because when he sinned fellowship with God was broken so God no longer walked on the earth and fellowship with men and as a result God’s power to maintain a steady state of life in order was withdrawn from the earth so mutations began occurring in other words the second law of thermodynamics kicked in and now we have sickness and disease death and decay pain and suffering and all things living or nonliving eventually we’re out run down grow out decay and turn into dust people it’s not God’s fault it’s Adams fault for breaking fellowship with God through sin so could God have stopped this oh yeah yeah had he stepped in and immediately brought judgment upon Adam and Eve however had he done that Adam and Eve would have physically died that very day and their souls would have been damned forever with no hope of salvation because the punishment for sin is death and there was no means established by which they could be made righteous remember what the reward for righteousness is what life the problem is once they sinned they were no longer righteous therefore they couldn’t have life and God had not yet established a means by which they could be made righteous you see the reason we’re gonna get to go to heaven it’s not because we’re righteous it’s because God has established a means by which we can be made righteous 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 verse 21 for it made him who had no sin to be it made sin on our behalf that we might be man the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus yeah so the only way God could give them talking about Adam and Eve and their descendants which is us a chance for salvation was to postpone judgment and remember as long as sin is allowed to continue pain suffering and evil will exist let me say that again as long as sin is allowed to continue pain suffering and evil will exist however there was a time when God did step in and he brought judgment upon the entire earth or upon the all of the world and there’s anyone know when that time was sure you do you learned it in Sunday school when did God do that yeah at the flood at that time God stepped in and destroyed all of mankind with the exception of Noah and his family and God did that for two reasons well actually he did it for three reasons but one of those reasons doesn’t really pertain to what we’re teaching on and I don’t have time to go into it so we’re only gonna look at two this morning not all right with you yeah one has nothing to do with what we’re talking about so I’m just going to share two so the first reason that God stepped in and brought judgment upon the entire world it’s because all of mankind had become totally consumed with wickedness and evil look at Genesis chapter 6 verses five and six the Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth what does the extent mean how much to what extent is what we normally say so he observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil so the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth it broke his heart so God brought judgment on the world by means of a worldwide flood and everyone died with the exception of one man and his family and that man was Noah he and his family were saved because they obey and they built an ark which brings us to the second reason that God stepped in and brought judgment upon the world through a worldwide flood so here it is if you’re taking notes reason number two the flood shortened the life span of man the flood shortened the life span of man you see before the flood the earth was surrounded by a canopy of water and that canopy of water acted like a global greenhouse in fact it maintained a warm uniform temperature all over the earth which meant that there weren’t any coat temperatures anywhere and with uniform temperatures great air masses would be inhibited and you wouldn’t have wind storms and with no global air circulation that wouldn’t be rain except over the bodies of water from which it evaporated so the earth maintained a comfortable uniform humidity by means of a daily local evaporation and condensation in each day/night cycle in other words there was due and there was fog which also meant there would be vegetation all over the world with no deserts no ice caps this vapor canopy also filtered out much of the dangers ultraviolet rays of the Sun contributing to greater health and longevity but the point I want to make is this man was able to live for hundreds of years because of this water canopy centuries yeah in fact let me show you how lonesome of these men lived before the flood Genesis chapter five verse five Adam lived 930 years and then he died genesis 5:8 Seth lived 912 years and then he died Genesis chapter 5 verse 11 eNOS lived nine hundred and five years then he died Genesis chapter five verse 14 kenan lived 910 years and then he died now to save time let me just tell you how some how long some more men lived alright Mahalalel lived 895 years Jared lived 962 years and we all have heard of Methuselah right look at your grandpa who’s 60 70 years old and when you’re 14 he’s as old as Methuselah Methuselah lived 969 years now all of these men almost lived a millennium they almost lived a thousand years now what happens when men lived that long with the sin nature let me ask that question again what happens when men lived that long with the sin nature now you’re gonna find out why when God looked at the extent of wickedness and he saw how horrible it was he had to do something about it because I’ll tell you what happens when men did that alone with the sin nature the wicked prey on the innocent that’s right the innocent become prey for the wicked in fact that’s what the Bible tells us look at psalms chapter 37 verse 32 the wicked wait in ambush for the godly looking for an excuse to kill them now look at Isaiah chapter 59 verse number 15 you have to understand that Isaiah the reason he’s one of the greatest prophets is he prophesied over the period of five kings but he not only tells us what’s going to happen in the future about Jesus Christ coming the first time he also tells us about the second coming but some of his things go all the way back to the beginning and notice what he says in Isaiah 59 15 truth is nowhere to be found truth is nowhere to be found and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey the Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice and I could give you a verse after verse but you get the picture so what do you think happened during the time period before the flood well I’ll tell you what happened the wicked preyed on the innocent until all you had were wicked people with the exception of Noah and his family and people that’s what happens man’s life span is do long and they have a sin nature now look back at Genesis chapter six verses five and six and now that you know how long that man lived and they had all of these people who became wicked and as a result of that they preyed on the innocent pretty soon the innocent have all been murdered and the only one you have left on the earth or the wicked so notice what it says knowing that the Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil so the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth it broke his heart now look at verses 11 through 13 same chapter now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence filled with rape murder muggings slavery the strong dominated and preyed on the weak yeah God observed all this corruption in the world for everyone on earth was corrupt so God said to Noah I have decided to destroy all living creatures for they had filled the earth with violence yes I will wipe them all out along with the earth so God stepped in and he broke this water canopy on the earth and ordered a shorten the life span of man and now the life span a man is somewhere around 70 to 80 years old you’ll find that in Psalms chapter 19 verse number 10 now remember that’s not a promise that tells us what normally happens under normal circumstances but normally man lives to his seventies and if by strength he makes it to his eighties and sometimes if you really have good genetics you can make it to your 90s and if you have great genetics you might make it to a hundred I still remember granny Redell when she was 105 bring her down sorry granny Ross how many remember granny Ross I happened to be getting my hair cut when I had hair and she pulled in one day and the person who was cutting her hair said well granny Ross are you still driving or does someone drop you a boy she got mad at a hundred and five she was still driving we had great genetics but most people live into their seventies some into their eighties but 70 to 80 years is more than enough time to repent and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior now people I want you to think about this I have family members that are wicked they are evil and so do you they might not be in your immediate family some might be in your immediate family but they’re at least in your extended family you have a cousin or a second cousin or you heard about an uncle and they are a wee kid they are evil and if they were able to live for centuries if they were able to live to eight hundred nine hundred years they would become more and more evil and more and more wicked and the people they always prey on earth the innocent the gullible the naive yeah so people I thank God that my wicked and evil family members will not live past 70 or 80 years I thank God that they will become Odin decrepit before they can perfect their evil ways listen to me God in His mercy shorten the life span of man in order to curb the wickedness on the earth but let me make an important point the flood was not the final judgment the flood was not the final judgment in other words God did not put an end to sin once and for all let me say that again God did not put an end to sin once and for all because Noah and his family survived and they maintained that Adamek nature they were not transformed so just like Adam need passed it on we all go back to not to Noah in his family and guess what we all have the Adamek nature but God did wipe out all the evil people and he shortened a lifespan of man in order to curb evil now I told you earlier that the reason God postponed judgment was so that he could establish a means of salvation and of course Jesus is the means by which were saved but when Jesus came he did not come to bring judgment no look at John chapter 3 verse 17 and I’ll show you what I’m talking about everyone knows John 3:16 right yes Lord I hope so you know you can’t expect that anymore no you used to you had at least one parent or grandparent that didn’t church and that when you grew up in your in your home but it’s not that way anymore so maybe some of you don’t know John 3:16 for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life yea most of us know that but we don’t read the next verse notice what the next verse says God sent his son into the world not to judge the world but to save the world through him so Jesus came the first time to save the world he didn’t come to judge it but when he comes back the second time he’ll come to judge but even that won’t be the final judgment what do you mean pastor Alan I thought when Jesus came out yes but here’s what you need to understand well let me go through this real quick when Jesus comes back there’ll be those who make it through the tribulation and they still have an atomic nature now we you are believers we’re gonna be transformed Paul tells us in 1st Thessalonians chapter 4 those who are dead their bodies are going to be resurrect their bodies are going to be resurrected reunited with their soul and we are going to rule and reign with Jesus Christ who are we going to rule and reign over the people who make it through the tribulation now here’s what’s interesting we tend to think of the tribulation the Millennium this thousand year period we tend to think of this is just utopia perfection and it will be to a large extent and the reason why is because Jesus will be ruling and reigning from the earth and will be ruling and reigning with him but you need to understand you’ll still have people with a with a Adamek nature a sinful nature because the Bible says that Jesus will rule with the rod of why would he need to rule with the rod of iron it also tells us if we think about this that people will die during the Malinin but if they die early we’ll know that they were weakened it also tells us that if the nations don’t go to actually worship Jesus during the feast of booths those nations won’t receive rain we’re also told at the end of the millennium that there’s going to be a great rebellion that God is going to have to put down or Jesus is going to put down once and for all and then after that you have the great white throne judgment so what’s the purpose of the Millenium the purpose of the millennium is to prove to everyone of you liberals that no matter how perfect society is and no matter how fair it’s going to be on this earth you will still have sin and rebellious people and sin must be done away with it will prove that once and for all and so what the great white throne judgment you will finally have the final judgement where God will put an end to sin once and for all now got ahead of myself look at John chapter 12 verse number 47 through 48 I will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me for I have come to save the world and not to judge it this is Jesus speaking but all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment when on the day of judgment when is the day of judgment the great white throne judgment yeah you see his Christians we’re not gonna be judged on the bad things that we did because Jesus paid for those sins and those things have been blotted out yeah but those who rejected Jesus Christ will have to pay for their sin they’ll stand before God at the great white throne judgment they’ll be thrown into the lake of fire which is the second death why because sin must be put down sin must be brought to an end once and for all and God will do that at the great white John judgment and then he says this by the truth I have spoken jesus said that ooh let me tell you you do not want to reject Jesus Christ because if you do you will be judged that the great throne judgment so let me ask a question if postponing judgment allow sin to continue and as long as sin continues pain suffering evil will exist why doesn’t God say enough and bring judgment upon the earth putting an end to sin once and for all did you catch that question let me ask it again if postponing judgment allow sin to continue and as long as sin continues continues pain suffering and evil will exist why doesn’t God say enough and bring judgment upon the earth putting an end to sin once and for all why doesn’t he do that the 2nd Peter chapter 3 verse 9 tells us says the Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness but he’s long-suffering to us-ward not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance now the word slack is translated from the Greek word bread you know bread who know bread Gilbert who know not just easy and it means to tarry or to delay so what this is saying is that the reason God hasn’t stepped in and brought judgment putting it into sin once and for all isn’t because he doesn’t want to know the reason he’s delayed the final judgment is because he doesn’t want anyone to perish instead he wants everyone to repent so he’s giving them time to do that so the bottom line is this the reason that God allows pain suffering and evil to exist is because he is a good God because he is a loving God because he is a merciful and compassionate God and because he’s a good loving and merciful compassionate God he has postponed judgment so that we and their loved ones can be saved see some of you are looking at this evil world and here’s what you’re thinking you’re thinking God just come right now and stop it all but if God does that and brings judgment right now then anyone who’s not saved is damned forever damned for they’ve rejected Jesus Christ and so what God does is he postpones judgment he postpones the final judgment I should say and as a result of that he gives us the ability to or the time necessary to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior now I understand that this pain and suffering is horrible but what’s the alternative so you ask me why would a loving compassionate omnipotent God allow evil to exist in this world I’ll tell you why it’s because the only other alternative is for God to step in and put us into sin once and for all but once he does that if you’re not saved right now you have no chance to ever be saved and if your loved ones aren’t saved then they have no chance and because God loves people he postpones judgment I want you to think of it like this so many of you are parents and you tell your kids shouldn’t do this but you do it you do that again I won’t thank you and they do it again what do you do I’m gonna give you one more chance do that again and I’ll spank you and you do it again what do you say don’t make me tell you the third time well you’re telling them the third time right now what are you doing you’re postponing judgment you’re allowing evil to exist they’re disobeying you the rebellious to you they’re doing what you want but you want to know why you don’t bring judgment now and end it once and for all because you’re a loving parent you don’t want to hurt them you don’t want to bring that about and that’s God and here we are in a world where fellowship with God has been broken as a result God no longer walks in this earth he’s no longer able to maintain the steady state of order in life and as a result of that we have mutations people get cancer people die we don’t live 800 900 years we don’t live forever uh we start getting old and decrepit but God did bet to curb sin because if people lived eight hundred and nine hundred years the evil and wicked people would prey on us innocent naive people we wouldn’t make it that long anyway so God in His goodness shorten the life span of man and now we have more than enough time but God has looked towards the future on what is the future the future is this the future is one day Jesus will come back and all things on this earth will revert back to the way it was before the fall with the exception and now you have people with an atomic nature so Jesus will rule with a rod of iron we will rule with him we’ll have a just and fair society and for a thousand years it will exist like that doesn’t mean that there won’t be some wickedness because you’ll have people with an atomic nature and at the very end of the millennium you’re gonna have this great group of people rebelling against Jesus and you’re thinking why in the world would you do that because they have the atomic nature but it will prove once and for all no matter what these liberals tell you no matter how just in fair society is evil will continue to exist as long as sin is allowed to continue yeah so why does God do it because he’s a loving God because he’s a merciful God because he’s a compassionate God but there will come a time where God will say enough and then what will take place at the end of the millennium they will be put down the great white throne judgment will happen there’ll be a new heaven and a new earth and sin will no longer exist but until that time God is being merciful if you’re here this morning you’ve never received Jesus let me say this you had time to accept Jesus up to the moment that you take your last breath at that point there is no second chances and you are not guaranteed what tomorrow will bring no matter what you think you are not immortal no matter what you think you could get in your car be driving home get in a trek and die if I were you I would receive Jesus because Jesus did not come to judge the world the first time he came to save the world he came as God’s means to make us righteous so that we might have life that’s why Jesus came
