  1. In case anyone was wondering why it was sniffing, the Nazgul have very poor vision but all of their other senses are greatly enhanced, and they can actually smell the blood of living things

  4. Stupidest scene in all the movie. Negates all power of future nazgul scenes. "They feel the rings presence" bla bla he was right there man wtf those nazguls are useless. Dunno were they thinking when they filmed this.

  5. Can someone explain the insects to me? I have been thinking that they crawled out of his body because well he is a dead man or a corpse but now I think that they are just crawling away from the tree where the Naz'Ghul is leaning like they are trying to run away from him. What is happening exactly?

  6. For a long time i thought this scene is dumb cause the wraith should easily spot them, hiding below the root. But after a little reading, I just realised, that nazguls are completely blind in daytime, they can rely only on their hearing and smelling, which is audible even in this scene, he is looking for their scent.

  7. For some reason i still hesitate to look at scene as a 22 year old. Just imagine how much Nazgul character scared me when i was watching this in a movie theater.

  8. I never made the connection as a kid to the insects being so incensed like that until I realized now that even these tiny creatures were trying to move away from the Nazgul as even mere insects can recognize them as an affront to nature. Crazy.

  9. These things just emanate evil. Before the Nazgûl even appears, the birds stop chirping, you can hear them fly away, and the entire tone becomes much darker, quieter and filled with dread. Then it appears from OUT OF NOWHERE. Then, when it approaches the Hobbits, the insects all begin to retreat from it instinctively or writhe, as though its very presence causes them pain. In this one scene, you get the sense that these aren’t just some hooded rogues on horseback. They are forces of darkness, and the one they are slave to is even worse.

  10. I love the way they suddenly stop and listen once they hear the horse X) You see their faces just losing any cheerfulness

  11. Never noticed how the nazgul doesn't walk passed the tree, he just emerges from behind it. Look at around 0:14, he never appears on the right of the tree. That's just one detail that makes this scene so much more anxious.

  12. The horse had red flame like pupils for eyes🥺🥺the insects were also scared , seems they sensed a great evil had come

  13. If the nazgul have such good sense of smell for the ring, then how the hell didn’t this rider find them under the stump, especially when Frodo pulls the damn thing out to put it on literally 4 feet from him makes no sense
