Taking care of business.


An exciting few days in Miami last week helped Verizon Business Group celebrate milestones and look towards the future. All in together with our leaders and future leaders from all over the world. Our VBG WOW, or Women Of the World graduation, featured over 400 women across the business team who spent the last seven months working alongside each other to develop their careers. And to everyone’s surprise US Women’s Soccer star Abby Wambach was the keynote speaker and inspired our female leaders to create the change they want to see. There’s so much more that took place, here’s a look at how VBG is taking care of business. What a difference a year makes. We have just gotten started. Nobody wins until we cross the finish line together. We bring talent into this organization who want to be part of something bigger than just our mission, how we show up on behalf of society. We will lead the world on how we show up on behalf of networks. We also recognize that networks are defined as networks of people. I believe the people in this room are the magic layer because at the end of day, you are the people that are running our business. The most important thing we can do as leaders is to show up on behalf of our people. Our mission in HR is to deliver the talent that creates the networks that move the world forward. 2020 is a year of investment for VBG. How you show up every day, how you treat people, that’s actually make a life change for many new employees. Our strategy is focused on the customer. Product is all about driving outcomes on the behalf of our customers. We must deliver at a minimum on this road map. It is about people and it is about partnership. CX is not an afterthought. It’s not one guy’s job, it’s not a department in marketing. It is all of us. If you’re going to take a survey and you’re going to ask a customer or an end user for feedback, you have to act on that feedback. We’ve got to speed our time to money. Don’t equate work with value. A better employee experience is a better customer experience. We need to own it, we need to deliver it and we need to go after it. Right now there is no time to waste. We win together. I’ve seen teams work together very closely and we put wins on the board because we’re engaged together. Integrity is at the absolute heart of our credo, it is at the heart of everything that we do. Compliance is at the heart of everything that we do. You don’t get to sit on the sideline. If you’re in this room and you’re practicing leadership, you’ve got suit up and you’ve got to get in the game.
