Royce Fellowship: Summer Sky Brunoe ’20 & Joshua Buznitsky ’20

Native Americans are 2.7 times as likely
to die from hepatitis C the non-hispanic whites. I refuse to let that statistic
remain. My name is summer and I’m a part of the Confederated Tribes of Warm
Springs. During my Royce Fellowship, I’ll be working towards eliminating hepatitis
C among the Native American population. Through collaboration with doctors and
leaders of the Narragansett Indian tribe, we’ll work to identify the most
prominent facilitators and barriers to hepatitis C. My name is Josh Buznitsky and this summer I’ll be in Tokyo, Japan. Leading up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, I
want to know what specific security-related policy changes the
Japanese government has made to prepare for the games and what these policies
will mean for sex workers and for patterns of migration more broadly. In
our world where technology is becoming more advanced and security more feasible,
it’s important to think about who is affected most by attempts to strengthen
national security.
