 The Duchess of Cornwall wore the glittering Boucheron tiara when she attended a Commonwealth Heads of Government dinner in Sri Lanka Prince Charles’s wife looked regal in a beautiful blue gown by Bruce Oldfield and matching clutch bag Camilla teamed the glamorous dress with the headpiece, which was previously worn by the Queen Mother, and an impressive pair of diamond earrings  The moment offered a glimpse into Camilla’s future royal role, according to one onlooker who attended the event  Writing in the Daily Mail, royal author Christopher Wilson said: “A high point of her 20 years in the spotlight came in 2013 when she attended a Commonwealth heads of government conference in Sri Lanka, when Charles was being sized up as future head of the Commonwealth – something that was far from a foregone conclusion at the time  “Resplendent in a sky-blue silk dress and crowned by a colossal Boucheron tiara once worn by the Queen Mother, she presented, according to one eye-witness ‘a vision of the future’  “If she was to be Queen, the observer added, this was the moment when ‘she demonstrated she’s got what it takes – her confidence, her regal bearing, that night showed she’s most definitely ready for whatever lies ahead’ ” It was confirmed Charles would succeed the Queen as Head of the Commonwealth last year  Charles and Camilla married in 2005, decades after they first fell for each other in the early 1970s  The couple revealed their romance to the world in 1999 after years of secrecy.  Camilla had faced a public backlash after the breakdown of Charles’s marriage to Princess Diana and her death in 1997  But a PR campaign by Charles’s spin doctor Mark Bolland helped win the public over to Charles’s relationship with his former mistress   And nearly 14 years on from their wedding, Camilla has a leading role in the royal family  The 71-year-old will become Queen Consort when Charles takes to the throne unless their is a change of law  When Charles and Camilla married, royal aides insisted Camilla would be known as Princess Consort  However, all references to Camilla becoming Princess Consort were removed from Clarence House’s website last year  Many royal experts also expect Camilla to become Queen Consort when Charles is king  Writing in The Duchess: The Untold Story, Camilla’s biographer Penny Junor wrote that Charles would “insist” his wife gets the title   Speaking last December, royal author and journalist Robert Jobson said there is “no question” Camilla will be Queen Consort when Charles takes to the throne   And royal expert Dickie Arbiter said Camilla will take the title when Charles is king
