Each year the Bernstein Institute sponsors
three Masiyiwa-Bernstein fellows, who are post-graduate fellows or 3Ls going into their
first year outside of law school and there are three separate fellowships. One that goes to a legal empowerment organization,
one that goes to an organization that focuses on ensuring that human rights defenders can
do their work and ensuring that there is civil space available for human rights work. And then a third simply to an organization
that we feel is doing important and cutting edge human rights work. And with these three fellowships, we feel
that NYU is really at the top of its game with opportunities for individuals who would
like to go into legal empowerment or human rights work in the future.
