Myrtle Beach business owners prepare for Hurricane Dorian

AND CHESTERFIELD COUNTY SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF TOMORROW BECAUSE OF THE STORM. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN BOARDING UP THEIR HOMES AND BUSINESS TPH-S HOMES AND — BUSINESSES IN MYRTLE BEACH FOR DAYS. YOU STARTED TO FEEL DORIAN DOWN THERE ALREADY? Reporter: YES, ALLISON, WE ARE GETTING A BIT OF A BREAK. WE ARE BETWEEN TWO OF THE OUTER BANDS FOR HURRICANE DORIAN. ONE THAT CAME ACROSS ABOUT LUNCHTIME, BRINGING RAIN, BREEZY CONDITIONS. THE OTHER IS ABOUT 60, 65 MILES OFF OF THE COAST AND YOU CAN SEE FOLKS HEADING OUT TO THE BEACH RIGHT NOW. THAT IS BECAUSE WE ARE GETTING THAT BREAK. IF YOU LOOK OUT THERE YOU CAN SEE THE DARK CLOUDS. THAT IS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE AROUND 7:00, 7:30 TONIGHT. TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO. SHOT IT EARLIER TODAY. FOLKS NOT TAKING CHANCES, BOARDING UP THEIR HOMES ALONG THE GRANDSTRAND. BUSINESSES DOWN IN MYRTLE BEACH DID THE SAME THING. THE FORECAST HELD FOR POSSIBLE HURRICANE-FORCED WINDS BY THIS TIME TOMORROW NIGHT. MYRTLE BEACH COULD SEE AS MUCH AS 8 INCHES OF RAIN BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING AS DORIAN MOVES UP THE COAST. WE SPOKE TO A HOMEOWNER WHO IS PREPARING FOR THE WORST BUT HOPING THAT DORIAN STAYS AWAY. I DON’T KNOW HOW CLOSE OR FAR AWAY IT WILL BE. YOU DON’T WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE. EASIER TO SPEND THE TIME BOARDING UP AND BEING PREPARED THAN TRY TO FIX WHAT IS TORN TO PIECES WHEN IT COMES THROUGH. Reporter: I GOT A CHANCE TO TALK TO A NUMBER OF THE RESIDENTS DOWN HERE. A LOT OF THEM TELLING ME THEY ARE PLANNING ON STAYING, YOU SEE THESE FOLKS WALK OFF THE BEACH. OTHER FOLKS ON THE BEACH AS WELL. THEY HAVE SET UP 4 SHELTERS
