Lakshmi is the Goddess of luck and is associated
with wealth, prosperity, fertility, power and auspiciousness. She is the bringer of
material fulfilment and contentment. Lakshmi is depicted as a figure with four arms, sitting on a white lotus, holding a
pot of coins on one hand and a lotus bud on the other. The cascade of gold coins from
the pot symbolises material wealth and prosperity. In most places, Lakshmi is seen in two forms-
Sridevi and Bhudevi. Bhudevi represents the material world and is worshipped as Mother
Earth. Sridevi represents the spiritual world or Prakriti.
Lakshmi is the divine consort of Vishnu, She provides Vishnu with wealth
for the maintenance and preservation of creation. Lakshmi is worshipped on the same day as Diwali.
People believe that on this day Lakshmi visits the homes of her devotees and blesses them
