She and William”s spectacular royal wedding was watched across the world in 2011. Since then the has proven herself as a dedicated member of the Kate has regularly attended state and charity events at William”s side. As a senior royal Kate is allowed to wear items of Crown jewellery. Over the years has sparkled in pieces like Princess Diana”s favourite love knot tiara. When she becomes Queen Consort she will have a coronation and be crowned with a spectacular headpiece worn by the late Queen Mother. Kate”s royal status will shift up a tier when William is crowned King and her royal duties are likely to adapt too. A Queen consort is the title given to the wife of a ruling king. Queen consorts usually share their husband”s social rank and status. But Queen consorts do not usually share their husband”s political and military powers. So while Kate will be considered William”s equal in terms of royal status, she will not have his political clout. Queen Elizabeth II, on the other hand, isa queen regent. A queen regent is a monarch in her own right with all the powers of amonarch. She became queen by inheriting the throne upon the death of the previous monarch. To begin with, Kate will have a low key coronation. On the royal family website it states: “Unless decided otherwise, a Queen consort is crowned with the King, in a similar but simpler ceremony.” When Prince William is King, Kate will continue to appear by his side and state events and to support him in public. According to US Weekly, Queen Elizabeth II has taken Kate under her wing and is already preparing her for the high profile role. A source told US Weekly: “The two of them will often spend hours discussing royal life and the future of the monarchy.” There has been some rigorous instruction, too. “The Queen will give intense one on one training [to Kate] about taking on the crown,” the insider added. Another royal insider suggested Kate is well prepared to take her next royal step: “It”s taken a long time for Kate to get to where she is today, but she”s ready,” they told US.
