Fellowship of the Ring – Boromir tries to take the ring from Frodo

Boromir… It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing. Such a little thing… Boromir! Give the ring to Frodo… As you wish… I care not.

  1. This is a great scene. I love Aragorn's white-knuckle grip on his sword, and the way Boromir's pupils flicker from that to Frodo. Aragorn is clearly a hair away from taking Boromir's head off. Even the way Boromir hands off the ring, it's like a criminal being ordered to carefully place his gun on the ground – he's being exaggeratedly careful not to make any sudden moves and inadvertently get himself killed.

  2. Beginning of the end for Boromir. He's already getting corrupted. Shame because he's very honorable and trustworthy, but no one can escape the grasp of the ring.

  3. Peter Jackson at his finest. The way he gets the main 3 actors playing their roles within scene. Especially Sean Bean, who has not always been known for his roles, but this is perfection.

  4. Despite everything Boromir was a decent bloke who spent his life fighting for his kingdom and knew fear and death greatly. he made one mistake which he could not take back. Somewhat of a tragic character in a way

  5. When you listen to the lyrics of the song that plays softly as Boromir holds the ring, it translates from Quenya into English as:

    The strength, the weapon
    The needs of the valiant
    Be the Ring, your weapon
    The strength, the weapon
    Go to victory..

The tree is bare, the fountain still
    Where are you going, Boromir?
    We hear…
    … your call
    Where are you…

Creepy as fuck. Wouldnt you be tempted if this voice was in your head?

  6. 0:33 Lyrics of Seduction of the Ring theme (Boromir at Caradhras/Frodo & Aragorn at Amon Hen) (Quenya):

    I tuo, i macil

    The strength, The weapon

    Astaldoron mauri

    The needs of the valiant

    nai Corma macilya

    Be the Ring your weapon

    I tuo, i macil

    The strength, The weapon

    Á lelyat túrenna!

    Go to victory!

  7. Interestingly, the ring you see at 0:18 is actually the size of a dinner plate. They use forced perspective to make it look far away. They did this so they could show detail on the ring while still keeping the actors in the shot with the camera they had.

  8. He shouldn't have put his hand on his sword, if he killed Boromir the ring would be doing its thing, corrupting everything around it.

  9. And apparently back then Ned did not know that the halfling is a Lannister, and a Lannister always pays his debts…

  10. When he snaps out of it, you know he's feeling that feeling you get when you're falling asleep, but not quite, and you get the sudden sensation that you're falling and you lurch back awake.

  11. Gerrard picks up the Premier League medal

Gerrard : It is a strange thing that we should suffer so much fear and doubt, for such a small thing

    Sir Alex: Gerrard!

    Gerrard looks up

Sir Alex: Give the medal back to Cleverley

  12. Let's mention that Frodo slipping and the Ring totally escaping from around his neck is a very the Ring-thing to do

  13. Stripped of all titles and powers, he would serve the realm in permanent exile. So long as I am your king, treason shall never go unpunished

  14. Boromir loved the hobbits. "this will be the death of the hobbits" "give them a moment for pitys sake" dies etc.
