Cancer research fellows in NSW – Associate Professor Anne Cust

I’m Associate Professor Anne Cust, and I’m
a cancer epidemiologist and I specialise in skin cancer research. At the moment a lot of my research is looking
at risk factors for melanoma, both environmental causes looking at sun exposure and skin characteristics
and things like that, but also genetic risk factors. So one of the things we’re trying to do is
better identify people at high risk of melanoma so that we can improve their care. There’s no population-based screening for
skin cancer in Australia so it’s very ad hoc, so I’m looking at ways we can improve that. And also looking at personalising screening
and prevention.
