Cambridge School Of Dallas Students Return To School At Fellowship Church After Tornado


FEDERAL DISASTER DECLARATION. FEMA STARTED SERVING CITIES TO DETERMINE WHICH ONES QUALIFY FOR GOVERNMENT AID. IT WAS THE SECOND FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS TODAY AT THE SCHOOL OF DALLAS. THEY WERE DEVASTATED BY THE TORNADO. THEY’RE FORCED TO RELOCATE. WE’RE LIVE AT THE NORTHWAY CHURCH IN DALLAS WITH THE STORY. Reporter: THIS WAS THE SCHOOL OF DALLAS HIS HOME UNTIL OCTOBER 20. YOU CAN SEE IT’S MISSING PART OF ITS ROOF. PIECES OF IT ARE LITTERED THROUGHOUT THE PARKING LOT. EVEN THOUGH THE HOME WAS DESTROYED, THE SCHOOL IS STILL VERY MUCH ALIVE. AS SOON AS IT WAS SAFE AFTER THE TORNADO PASSED, THE HEAD OF THE SCHOOL OF DALLAS RUSH TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE AT NORTHWAY CHURCH. WHICH HOUSED THE PREP SCHOOL. IT OR THE INSIDE THE AREA. I BEGAN THINKING ABOUT MOVING. FELLOWSHIP CHURCH AT PARK AND 75 OPENED THEIR DOORS TO THE SCHOOL THIS MORNING. THE CLASSROOMS ARE PLENTY SPACIOUS AND THEY ARE VERY COLORFUL. I TOLD THE FACULTY WHEN WE ANNOUNCED THIS THAT WE NEED MORE COLOR IN OUR LIVES ESPECIALLY AFTER THIS EVENT. AFTER EIGHT DAYS AWAY, STUDENTS WERE READY TO REUNITE AND RETURN TO THE SAME SCHOOL, JUST NOT THE SAME WALLS. I THINK THE SCHOOL IS A LOT MORE THAN THE BUILDING. THE VALUES THAT WE HAVE AND THE PEOPLE. ESPECIALLY THE PROFESSORS. IT STICKS WITH US. Reporter: STUDENTS PASS THE TIME WITH DIFFERENT KINDS OF WORK. VOLUNTEERING TO PATCH WINDOWS AND CLEAR ROADWAYS. I AM SO PROUD OF THEM. THEY HAVE REACHED OUT AND HELPED OTHERS IN A TIME WHEN THEY THEMSELVES WERE ALSO FACING THEIR OWN NEEDS.
