Best Tycoon and Business Management Indie Games – Indie Game News May 2018

Hello Indie Game Lovers, Nerds and Nerdettes
my name is Feniks and this is the Indie Game News. Before we start remember to check video description
for additional information. Today we look at Tycoon genre. As always we start updates of last month Interstellar Transport Company version 3.x
is here. The main feature here, of course, is the seven
new cargo vessels. You will now need to avoid epidemics by supplying
colonies with medicine, increase food, water, and raw material production by supplying colonies
with robotics, keep security stations operational by supplying weapons, meet the power needs
and keep development levels at 100% on highly developed colonies by supplying Stellarium,
and supply medical factories with Xenobiologics refined from Genetic Material. Stellarium and Genetic Material are both late
game additions that can only be found in interstellar locations and your starting planet’s supply
of luxuries will become depleted (along with many other resources) over time meaning that
you will need to seek out interstellar sources of it. This all adds depth and interest to the late
game and really gives you many more reasons to venture into interstellar space. We will see many improvements to the game,
Interstellar Transport Company runs much smoother and faster than ever before. Next game that has seen some good updates
last month is Another Brick To The Mall. Developer has added seasonal events Major
Movie, Game, Book etc Release. We will see addition of strikes from Delivery
,Garbage Collection and bus drivers. We will see new An ‘upcoming events’ timeline
to help players plan thiers actions better. Seasons as mentioned above come their own
events as well as weather effects. Players will be able to enjoy New shift planning
tool. This should save a lot of clicks when managing
big businesses with many employees. As always optimizations, improvements and
tweaks Another Brick to the mall is a shopping centre
tycoon your job is Design, build and manage a giant shopping
center. Open shops, supermarkets, restaurants, movie
theaters, bowling alleys and more. Hire and manage the best staff for the job
and milk your customers for all they’re worth! Game is currently at 82% positive review score
on steam. Academia School Symulator Alpha 2 has been
released on a 14th of April. Game has seen significant changes since first
release and here is few you may be interested in. We will see Subject Departments Previously,
teachers were assigned to a single class and taught all of the subjects. This was always meant to be temporary, and
with this update you can assign teachers to a specific department that best suits them,
and they will travel from class to class to teach. Teachers can now also be assigned to teach
through all year levels, or stick to just teaching on year level, giving you more control. Finally players are able to schedule properly. You now have the ability to control when each
year level takes its breaks (lunch and recess). This way you can be more efficient about the
use of your kitchens and canteens. You can also control how often teachers will
shift between subjects, so you have control over how often teachers teach and take breaks. We will see new trash management, new UI many
improvements and optimization. Academia originally released on early access
8th of September 2017 and is sat on comfortable 76% positive review score on steam. Time to talk about new releases. Startup Freak has released on steam on 13th
of April In Startup Freak you take the role of a budding
entrepreneur, and grow your very own software startup from humble beginnings to a multi-million
dollar company. Along the way you will have to overcome countless
challenges, from building, testing and securing your product, to devising the ideal marketing
strategy and securing investment. Game features simple 2d graphics and has some
of interesting the mechanics and mini games that may bring breath of fresh air to the
genre. Game is sat on 69% positive review score meaning
they are only one 1% away from hitting mostly positive score. This Grand Life has left the early access
on 17th of April This Grand Life is a personal finance simulator
where you create a character, manage their money and help them achieve their life goals. Cruise your way through life with a silver
spoon, or struggle endlessly to find employment as a convicted felon. You cannot control your past, but you can
change your future. Inspired by Sierra’s 1990 game Jones In The
Fast Lane, your life is divided into weeks. You try to accomplish as much as you can each
week while economic conditions and special events create interesting choices to think
about. Do I go to work this week, or take part in
the Hot Dog Eating competition at the park? Should I spend time looking for a better job,
or stick with my current job until economic conditions improve? This game had a potential to be done very
badly and in a lazy way but instead developer have excel itself and produced a really solid
and complex game that I have truly enjoyed. You can start jobs, gain education, flip properties
for fun and profit, rent houses out, trade on a market and start your own business. Game is sat 78% positie review score on steam. Farm manager has released on 6th of April. Game has been since then been taken off steam
as developers are dealing with DMCA claim, according to developers it is false claim
and game should return to steam shortly. In Farm manager your job is to manage your
own farm. You will expand your farm business, produce
cheap and sell your products at high prices. Control the land cultivation process, select
the best employees, buy the most appropriate farm equipment, raise livestock and process
the harvested crops. Various camera modes allow you to enter into
a strategic view as well as to look at the world through the eyes of the employee. You have a choice between nearly 40 machines
and the same number of buildings. Starting from farm buildings and barns to
processing plants and factories. You will be able to specialize in production
of various foods like juices and frozen food. Time for upcoming games Overcrowd is available on steam to add to
wishlists Every day, millions crowd the tube in a desperate
bid to get to work. Your job is to you build and run the perfect
metro station to help them make it on time. Overcrowd is a tactical management sim set
on the London Underground. Blending base building with pausable real-time
strategy, Overcrowd offers a unique mix of spatial puzzling, strategic thinking and split-second
choices. Players will have a chance to experience detailed
micro simulation Everything from bin emptying, generator refueling, power, litter collection,
commuter AI and staff activities are simulated down to the individual level. The huge range of interacting systems gives
scope for emergent and unpredictable gameplay. Procedural puzzles Each level has procedurally generated terrain,
offering a fresh spatial puzzle about which to design and run your station. With a choice of entrances and tracks, physical
obstacles, and limited space and money, you’ll have to weigh up your decisions carefully. Multi Floor levels, tactical staff deployment
isometric pixel graphics, unique crowd flow mechanics, staff individual behaviours, criminal
activities and many more. Game is set to release later this year. Okay guys that is it in this month Indie Game

  1. Another great video as always 🙂 Looking forward to overcrowd, looks interesting. I also saw today a game very much still in development but looks really interesting, Keep the Peace ( ), worth keeping an eye on.

  2. Another brick in the mall has come a long way since its release.
I also wanna know more about Startup freak.

    Once again ……great video mate!

  3. I can't wait for Overcrowd. So many games coming, it's like I need a second job lol. Looking forward to Tropico 6, Overcrowd, The Universim, Cities Skylines: Parklife, Project Hospital, Two Points Hospital, Sky Haven, Police Simulator 2018, Bus Simulator 2018, House Flipper, Flashing Lights……oh my lol 🙂

  4. Great as always Feniks. It's interesting to see how far some of these games have come over the last year or so, I've been lucky enough to play almost all of them from this video and they've all grown fast. This Grand Life is, as you said, a really impressive release from a single developer… I think it had the shortest EA period of all these games and one of the most solid gold releases.

Overcrowd looks amazing and it's hard to believe it's finally going to come out in just a few weeks. I've been waiting on that for some time… another really impressive (looking) single dev project!

  5. Great video as usual! Next video you should include Hotel Magnate, not too much info on the game but there is a steam page and a dev blog.
